Lee & Co. was founded initially in 1935, since which time it has had a variety of partners and names.
The founding partner was Harry Wood who saw Leyland as a prosperous town, the home of major British industries such as The Leyland Motor Company Ltd, which became British Leyland and Leyland DAF and also the Leyland and Birmingham Rubber Company. In addition there where the nearby market towns of Preston and Chorley, which placed Leyland in the middle of these.
Harry Wood served in the Royal Navy during the Second World War and thereafter returned to Leyland to continue with his practice. In 1958 he recruited the services of Keith Clayton and he became a partner of the firm.
Geoffrey Lee joined the practice as a 17 year old in 1958 and was trained under the guidance of Harry. Geoffrey went to the College of Law in Guilford and on the 2nd December 1968 was admitted as a solicitor. Upon Geoffrey’s qualification he became a partner of the practice and after Harry Woods retirement became the Senior Partner. Throughout the 1970’s Geoffrey developed the practice and introduced new partners, such as Tony Yates, Geoff Brailsford & Martin Sawle. Throughout this period the firm has had a variety of names, but today is once again known as Lee & Co Solicitors Limited, which trades under the name of “Lee & Co”.
Lee & Co’s partners / directors are now Geoffrey Lee, Sephton Lee and Bill Meeson.
These 3 directors together with their collegues Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Allison McCormick, Alex Penney and Margaret Hearn have a combined total of some 218 years experience in the law with a varity of skills.
